In-N-Out Burger Moves Headquarters to Tennessee, Leaving California After 77 Years

In-N-Out Burger, a California-based fast-food chain, is relocating its corporate headquarters to Franklin, Tennessee, after 77 years in the Golden State. President Lynsi Snyder revealed the decision during an interview with journalist Allie Beth Stuckey, citing challenges in raising a family and conducting business in California. While the majority of the company’s stores will remain in California, the move aims to provide a smoother transition for employees and families. The relocation, set to be completed by 2030, involves consolidating operations into a new office in Franklin. Snyder emphasized the difficulties of doing business in California, including high costs and regulatory hurdles, while expressing gratitude for the state’s impact on her upbringing. The company plans to maintain its current expansion strategy, focusing on states west of Texas, and has no immediate plans to expand into the East Coast or Florida. In-N-Out will rely on its Texas warehouse to supply its Tennessee operations, avoiding the need for a new meat-processing facility in the region. The move marks a significant shift for the Snyder family, who have been rooted in California since the company’s inception in 1948. The transition is expected to be gradual, with ample notice provided to employees to ease the adjustment.
