Delta Flight Turbulence Leaves 25 Hospitalized, Sparks Investigation

Severe turbulence on a Delta Airlines flight forced an emergency landing in Minneapolis, leaving 25 passengers and crew members hospitalized. The incident occurred on a Delta Airbus A330-900 traveling from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam, carrying 275 passengers and 13 crew. Around 7:45 p.m. local time, the plane encountered intense turbulence over Wyoming, causing abrupt altitude changes and injuries. Passengers described the turbulence as terrifying. Leslie Woods recounted the drink cart flying into the air and a young girl screaming in fear. Joseph Carbone reported three consecutive bouts of turbulence, each more severe than the last, with passengers and carts flying around the cabin. Leann Nash added that there was no warning, and those not wearing seat belts were thrown into the ceiling. The FAA and Delta’s National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident. Delta stated that all crew and passengers have been released from hospitals and are offering a special flight to Amsterdam to accommodate affected travelers.
