Islamic Jihad Ideology Exposed in Syria's Druze Massacre

In a chilling account, Syrian pharmacist Hala Saraya has detailed the brutal slaughter of seven members of her family, including her American cousin, at the hands of Syrian forces and Bedouin fighters in As-Suwayda. The attack, which began on a Sunday evening, escalated into a horrifying wave of violence that left the Druze community reeling.
Saraya recounted how al-Jolani militia forces, under the guise of searching for weapons, entered her relatives’ home and systematically executed the men. “They killed all of us,” she said, struggling to comprehend the senseless brutality. “We are innocent and very polite citizens. We don’t know why they killed us.”
The assault on As-Suwayda highlights the ongoing role of Islamic jihad theology in fueling global conflicts. The Quranic verse cited by jihadists—“Make ready for them all that you can of force and of warhorses, so that by them you may strike terror in the enemy of Allah and your enemy”—has been used to justify such atrocities.
The Druze community, a religious minority in Syria, has long faced persecution, but this latest massacre has drawn international attention to the escalating violence. Saraya’s desperate plea for help underscores the urgent need for global intervention to halt the tide of jihad-inspired violence and protect innocent lives.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the destructive power of ideological extremism and the need for a united response to combat it.
