Beijing’s Forced Organ Harvesting Scheme Draws Global Attention

William Huang, a Chinese dissident who spent five years in prison before escaping to the U.S., warns that exposing Beijing’s systematic forced organ harvesting could lead to the downfall of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Huang, a Falun Gong practitioner, alleges that the regime extracts organs from prisoners of conscience to fuel its profitable transplant industry, a practice he calls “so evil” that it would unite global opposition.
Annie, a doctor’s wife, recounted her husband’s involvement in taking corneas from detained Falun Gong practitioners in northeastern China. The moral toll of such work left him plagued by nightmares. Huang, who was targeted by Beijing for his role in establishing The Epoch Times’ website in 2000, expressed frustration over the lack of public awareness. He stressed that patients receiving transplants from China unknowingly participate in a crime, urging countries to adopt laws like Canada’s to combat the abuse.
David Matas, a human rights lawyer, highlighted the global failure to track organ transplant tourism, noting that only Taiwan requires hospitals to report such cases. He emphasized the need to draw attention to the victims’ rights and advocate for truth and justice. Advocacy efforts, while challenging, aim to hold the CCP accountable and drive political change, he said.
