Petitions Filed to Make COVID-19 Treatments Over-the-Counter

A group of prominent doctors, including Dr. Simone Gold of America's Frontline Doctors, has filed petitions with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to make ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) available over the counter (OTC). These drugs, already approved for other uses, have been widely studied for their potential effectiveness against COVID-19. HCQ, used for decades to treat malaria, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus, is considered one of the safest medications globally. Ivermectin, a Nobel Prize-winning antiparasitic drug, has also shown promise in combating COVID-19 and is being explored for cancer treatment.
Despite their potential benefits, both drugs faced significant barriers during the pandemic. Pharmacies often refused to fill prescriptions due to pressure from government agencies and corporate interests, limiting access for patients. Advocates argue that suppressing these treatments allowed experimental mRNA vaccines to dominate the market, despite their documented side effects. The petitions aim to remove regulatory hurdles and provide patients with safer, more accessible alternatives.
Dr. Gold emphasized that the "mainstream narrative has collapsed under the weight of its own deception," calling for the FDA to prioritize science and patient access. Other petitioners echoed this sentiment, highlighting the failure to utilize proven treatments and the resulting poor clinical outcomes during the pandemic. The effort to make ivermectin and HCQ OTC continues, marking a significant step in challenging the status quo and empowering patients with life-saving options.
