Phoenix Taco Restaurant Owner Arrested for Smuggling and Employing Illegal Aliens

Federal authorities have arrested Blademir Angulo Audeves, a 42-year-old illegal alien and owner of a popular Phoenix-based taco restaurant, for allegedly smuggling and employing illegal aliens. Angulo, who operates Taqueria El Taco Loko, a mobile taco trailer, and a taco bus, was charged with harboring illegal aliens, employing unauthorized workers, and illegal possession of firearms as part of Operation Take Back America. According to federal officials, Angulo housed and employed at least 12 illegal aliens at his properties in Laveen and Maricopa. During the raid, federal agents found three firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and evidence of a smuggling network. Several workers claimed Angulo arranged or financed their illegal entry into the U.S., charging up to $12,000 per person, which was paid off through cash or indentured labor. Angulo, a Mexican national, was previously deported in 2021 but re-entered the U.S. illegally shortly after. He allegedly paid workers in cash and checks to evade employment verification laws. Two other illegal aliens, Christian Sagaste-Garcia and Jose Luis Ambriz-Cortes, were also arrested and charged with re-entry after deportation. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime. Angulo faces federal charges and will appear in court for his initial hearing. The arrest underscores federal efforts to enforce immigration laws and crack down on smuggling networks and illegal employment practices.
