Driver Plows Into Crowd Outside Los Angeles Nightclub, Injuring 31

Early Saturday morning, a driver allegedly plowed into a crowd outside a nightclub in Los Angeles, injuring 31 people. According to reports, the incident occurred on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, where a line of mostly female patrons were waiting to enter the establishment. The driver, operating a Nissan Versa, struck the crowd before colliding with a nearby taco truck and valet stand.
Following the crash, the driver was reportedly shot and attacked by the crowd. Police identified the shooter as a 5’9” Hispanic man wearing a blue jersey with the number 5 on the back. One of the victims was found to have a gunshot wound, though their identity remains undisclosed.
Seventeen victims were transported to local hospitals and trauma centers, with seven in critical condition, six in serious condition, and four in fair condition. Seven individuals refused medical transport after being assessed on scene.
Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Capt. Adam Van Gerpen stated that it was unclear whether the driver was shot before or after the crash, as well as the motive behind the incident. An LAPD investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the event.
