Missouri Sues Planned Parenthood Over Deceptive Abortion Drug Claims

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has filed a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood Federation of America, accusing the organization of endangering women and girls by falsely claiming that the abortion drug regimen, including mifepristone, is "safer" than over-the-counter medications like Tylenol. The suit alleges that Planned Parenthood's deceptive advertising, which includes website pages, emails, press releases, and public statements, constitutes a "blatant violation of Missouri law."
Bailey stated that Planned Parenthood is spreading lies about the risks of mifepristone, a drug used in the majority of U.S. abortions. Studies show that 11% of women experience serious or life-threatening complications after using the drug, a rate 22 times higher than the FDA's claims. The lawsuit also highlights that Planned Parenthood encourages women to mislead doctors about the cause of emergency room visits to protect the drug from scrutiny.
The suit further alleges that Planned Parenthood's promotion of chemical abortion has fueled a rise in abortions and targeted women in Missouri, including those in Cole County. Bailey emphasized that he will not allow Planned Parenthood to lie to Missouri women in pursuit of its "radical agenda."
Pro-life groups, including SBA Pro-Life America, have praised Bailey's action, calling it a model of leadership and courage. Planned Parenthood has not yet responded to the allegations.
