Israeli PM Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu surprised President Donald Trump during their White House dinner by officially nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Netanyahu presented Trump with a letter nominating him for the award, which he also reportedly sent to the Nobel Prize committee. “I want to express the appreciation and admiration not only of all Israelis, but of the Jewish people and many, many admirers around the world, for your leadership, your leadership of the free world, your leadership of a just cause, and the pursuit of peace and security,” Netanyahu said.
Trump, unaware of Netanyahu’s intention, expressed gratitude for the gesture. “This I didn’t know,” Trump said. “Wow. Thank you very much. Coming from you in particular, this is very meaningful.”
Netanyahu highlighted Trump’s achievements, including the Abraham Accords, which have fostered peace in the Middle East. He praised Trump’s leadership in advancing peace and security, calling it “well-deserved.” The meeting marked the first time the two leaders had met since Trump authorized strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities, significantly disrupting Iran’s nuclear program.
The nomination underscores Trump’s role in strengthening ties between the U.S. and Israel, as well as his efforts to promote stability in the region.
