Elmo X Account Hacked, Antisemitic Messages Posted

The official X account for Elmo, the beloved Sesame Street character, was compromised over the weekend, with a hacker posting antisemitic and harmful content. The account, with over 650,000 followers, was used to spread messages calling for violence against Jews and accusing former President Donald Trump of being a pedophile. The posts also demanded the release of Jeffrey Epstein's files. Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street, confirmed the breach and stated that the harmful content has since been removed. The incident coincides with renewed attention on Epstein, a controversial figure accused of running a blackmail operation. Epstein received a lenient plea deal in 2007, which allowed him to serve minimal jail time and work outside the facility. The deal, negotiated by Alex Acosta, has been criticized for violating the Crime Victims’ Rights Act by not notifying Epstein’s victims. Acosta later became Trump’s Labor Secretary. A 2019 article claimed Epstein had ties to intelligence, but a 2020 Justice Department report found no evidence supporting this claim. The hacking of Elmo’s account highlights ongoing concerns about online security and the spread of harmful content. Authorities are investigating the breach, and Sesame Workshop has assured fans that they are taking steps to prevent future incidents.
