OpenAI Launches o3-pro, a Powerful AI Reasoning Model

OpenAI has unveiled o3-pro, its latest AI model designed for advanced reasoning capabilities. Building on the o3 model introduced earlier this year, o3-pro processes problems step by step, making it particularly effective in domains like physics, math, and coding. The model replaces the previous o1-pro and is now available for ChatGPT Pro and Team users, with Enterprise and Edu access following next week. Developers can also integrate o3-pro via OpenAI’s API, priced at $20 per million input tokens and $80 per million output tokens.
According to OpenAI, o3-pro outperforms its predecessor in clarity, comprehensiveness, and accuracy across key areas such as science, education, and programming. It also excels in popular AI benchmarks, surpassing Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro in math and Anthropic’s Claude 4 Opus in advanced science knowledge.
However, o3-pro has limitations. Temporary chats in ChatGPT are currently disabled due to a technical issue, and the model cannot generate images or support Canvas, OpenAI’s AI-powered workspace. Despite these constraints, o3-pro represents a significant advancement in AI reasoning, offering enhanced capabilities for professionals and developers alike.
