Trump Signs "One Big Beautiful Bill" on Independence Day

President Donald Trump signed the "One Big Beautiful Bill" into law on the 249th anniversary of America's independence during a military family picnic on the White House lawn. The bill, passed by the House of Representatives on Thursday with a narrow 218-214 vote, was celebrated alongside a flyover of F-22s, F-35s, and a B-2 Bomber.
Speaking on the Truman Balcony, Trump highlighted the success of Operation Midnight Hammer and emphasized the bill's goals: creating a prosperous middle class, securing the border, and strengthening the military. He also praised the permanent extension of the 2017 Trump tax cuts, the largest in U.S. history.
The bill includes funding for border security and ICE, eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, and repeals Biden's clean energy credits. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the legislation a "commonsense agenda" that will usher in a "Golden Age of America."
However, Democrats opposed the bill, arguing that stricter Medicaid and SNAP requirements would harm millions. They criticized the new work requirements as unnecessary, while Republicans defended them as essential to reducing waste in the healthcare system.
The signing ceremony marked a significant moment in Trump's administration, celebrating national pride and outlining a vision for the nation's future.
