Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced an investigation into 33 non-citizens suspected of voting in the 2024 General Election. The probe, revealed on Tuesday, was initiated after Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson identified the individuals through the SAVE database, a federal immigration records system made available to states under a 2025 executive order signed by former President Donald Trump.
Paxton emphasized the importance of election integrity, stating, “Non-citizens must not be allowed to influence American elections.” He vowed to use his office’s full authority to investigate the potential voter fraud and protect the electoral process. Nelson described the SAVE database as a “gamechanger,” enabling the identification of ineligible voters and confirming the naturalization of dozens more.
The investigation follows the removal of over 6,500 potential non-citizens from Texas voter rolls, with 1,930 of them having prior voting histories. Paxton’s office highlighted the executive order’s role in ensuring states receive complete information on foreign nationals who register or vote illegally. The move underscores Texas’ commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its elections and upholding the principles of lawful participation in the democratic process.
