Flash Floods in Texas Tragedy: 27 Dead, 27 Children Missing

At least 27 people have died, and 27 girls attending a Christian summer camp remain missing after devastating flash floods hit Texas. City manager Dalton Rice confirmed during a press conference that the 27 missing individuals are from Camp Mystic, with additional missing persons yet to be accurately counted. Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha reported that 27 deaths have been confirmed, including 18 adults and nine children. Rescue operations continue, with 850 people already rescued and reunited with their families.
President Donald Trump expressed his prayers for the affected families on Truth Social, stating that the Trump Administration is coordinating with state and local officials. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is en route to the region. The floods, described as unexpected, caused a river to rise by 26 feet in just 45 minutes. Parts of central Texas received a month’s worth of rain in a few hours, with Hunt experiencing nearly 6.5 inches of rain in three hours—a one-in-100-year event.
Images show widespread destruction of homes, vehicles, and trees, with rescue attempts ongoing. Flash flood warnings remain in effect, and more rain is expected over the weekend, according to Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.
