Texas Flash Floods Claim 43 Lives as Search Continues for Missing

The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Texas has risen to 43, including four missing girls who have been identified and declared dead. Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha reported that 15 children and five adults remain unidentified, with at least 27 people still missing. Over 850 people have been rescued, with eight injured.
The floods, which were not anticipated by forecasts, caused a river to rise by 26 feet in just 45 minutes. Parts of central Texas received nearly a month’s worth of rain in a few hours, with some areas experiencing a one-in-100-year rainfall event.
Governor Greg Abbott approved an updated federal disaster proclamation, and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirmed that President Donald Trump would honor the declaration. President Trump expressed his prayers for the affected families and praised the efforts of first responders.
The tragic loss of life, including the four young girls from Camp Mystic, has deeply affected families and communities. Authorities continue to work tirelessly to locate the missing and provide support to those affected by this unprecedented disaster.
