Rep. Nancy Mace Displays Intimate Photos During Hearing to Highlight Privacy Violations

South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace displayed explicit photos of herself during a congressional hearing to expose alleged privacy violations and push for stronger anti-surveillance laws. Mace accused her ex-fiancé, Patrick Bryant, of secretly recording her and other women without consent, claiming he filmed and photographed women in compromising situations, including drugged and sexually assaulted individuals.
Mace used the hearing to advocate for two pieces of legislation she introduced in February: the Stop VOYEURS Act and the Sue VOYEURS Act, aimed at combating hidden cameras and privacy violations. She emphasized the importance of privacy rights, stating, "Liberty begins with the right to close a door. A hidden camera kicks that door off its hinges."
Bryant denied Mace's allegations, calling them false and malicious. Mace, however, maintains that her experience underscores the urgent need for legal protections against such violations. Her advocacy highlights the intersection of privacy rights and gender-based exploitation, drawing attention to the lack of accountability for predators who abuse technology to harass women.
