How the Left Enables Starvation in Gaza

Food shortages in Gaza have reached critical levels, with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee warning of "hunger, deprivation, and possibly starvation" for over 2 million residents. While Western leftists blame Israel, the reality is far more complex. Hamas, a U.S.-designated terrorist group, has controlled Gaza since 2006 and has repeatedly proven its willingness to prioritize power and ideology over civilian welfare.
After Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel in October 2023, killing over 1,200 civilians and kidnapping 250 people, Israel responded with military action. Hamas has since disrupted humanitarian aid as a tool of control and profit. According to a U.N. report, only 10% of aid trucks reached their destinations in July, with the rest likely intercepted by Hamas. The group has also threatened and attacked aid workers, including those from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which seeks to distribute food directly to civilians.
Western leaders, including France's Emmanuel Macron, have called for recognizing a Palestinian state, framing humanitarian aid as an urgent priority. However, these actions often obscure Hamas's role in perpetuating the crisis. By diverting aid and manipulating public sentiment, Hamas uses the suffering of Gazans to advance its anti-Israel agenda.
Unless Western leftists condemn Hamas and hold it accountable for its actions, the cycle of starvation and suffering in Gaza will continue. The focus must shift to addressing Hamas's deliberate obstruction of aid, rather than falsely blaming Israel for the crisis.
