Trump Announces Plans to Beautify Washington, D.C., During Law Enforcement Visit

President Donald Trump visited the U.S. Park Police Anacostia Operations Facility in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to thank federal and local law enforcement officers, including National Guard troops, for their efforts in maintaining security in the district. During the event, Trump praised the men and women who have supported his administration’s crime-fighting initiatives and unveiled plans for extensive beautification projects in the city.
Among the initiatives, Trump highlighted plans to re-grass city parks, upgrade sprinkler systems, and replace old signage across D.C. He emphasized that the city would undergo significant improvements, stating, “We’re going to have the best capital ever. It’s going to look better than it ever did.” Trump also announced plans to remove graffiti and renovate pavements and medians, requesting funding from Congress to support these efforts.
The president was accompanied by key administration officials, including Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Trump expressed gratitude to the law enforcement community, declaring, “You people are winners, and I just think it’s such an honor to be with you. We’re going to make Washington, D.C., great again.”
During the visit, Trump provided hamburgers and pizza for the officers, expressing his intention to eat alongside them before they returned to their patrols. The president concluded his remarks by reaffirming his commitment to the city’s revitalization, stating, “We’re going to celebrate, and then we’re going to get back to work.”
Trump’s visit also included a stop at the Washington, D.C., Armory, where Hegseth met with National Guard troops to discuss their roles in maintaining the city’s security. The event underscored the administration’s focus on both public safety and urban renewal in the nation’s capital.
